Where was Moleskine in my youth? I’ve been keeping diaries since I was a teenager, in all forms of blank bound books, notebooks, and online systems. Moleskine, though, is the first I’ve used that combines style, practicality, and flexibility in an affordable package.
For me, Moleskine’s best feature is the soft, ink-friendly, cream-tinted blank paper. Hate the restrictiveness of lined paper? Moleskine has a blank paper option? Love to write in ink? Moleskine paper holds ink without smearing or bleeding. Hate the brightness of white paper? Moleskine brings back the elegant cream tint of papers from an earlier era.
Of course, black is the new black, and Moleskine doesn’t forget it. The book can be inconspicuous without being plain. The cover is made of soft “fake leather” that’s easy to hold and offers just the right amount of flex.
The extras are great as well. You won’t forget where you were writing: a cloth ribbon marks your place. An external elastic band keeps the book closed in all conditions, so you can stuff in loose stuff without losing it. An affixed paper envelope in the back holds stamps, pictures, and whatnot.
Go do yourself an indulgence and a luxury, buy a Moleskine!

Whether writing random thoughts while on an airplane, making a sketch while on vacation, or taking all important notes in that business meeting, all who are in your presence will take note of the small but sleek notebook you are writing in. While soemwhat of a throwback to the days when people wrote on real paper with real ink, its’ timelessness captivates the imagination, spurring the owner to write more and more in the pages.

I LOVE writing in this notebook! Breaking out a fountain pen and writing in this notebook makes me feel like I am sitting in a Paris cafe back in the 1930’s. Not sure what people are complaining about regarding the paper and how well it takes fountain pen ink – I have found it to be very good. The paper is thin so there is some bleed-through to the other side – a minor annoyance. I just use one side of each page anyway. The size is very convenient to drop in a backpack or briefcase and it just has this classic look to it. Highly recommended!

I’m excited to see Amazon carries this product. I’ve used them for the past 2 years while on assignment in Australia. And you should be happy about the price because I’ve been paying $30.00 USD at the local bookshops for each one here! I like them because I find one lasts me 3 months and I can organize all my contacts and notes into it and then refresh for the new quarter tossing out the old details. They are small and easy to stash in your jacket and attach a pen around them on the go. Plus, if you drop them or squish them in your suitcase, you don’t need to wory about losing all your data and there is no battery life issue… The paper is good quality and very thin so you get lots of pages without too much space. Great for the note taking warrior. I prefer the no line version so I can sketch freely.
